WORKSHOP: JERMAN AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE COLLECTION INDUSTRY
This workshop will review the case of Jerman vs. Carlisle which is one of the few FDCPA cases considered by the U.S. Supreme Court. After the Supreme Court returned the case to the trial court for further proceedings, the trial judge awarded no monetary damages and the case is currently on appeal on that issue. The workshop will review not only the issues and the rulings in the case critical to the collection industry, but also highlight the fascinating behind-the-scenes activity as the case moved through the judicial process. Attendees will discuss with the speaker and each other Jerman’s ramifications for the collection industry and anecdotal evidence of how it has changed their business practices.
Key takeaways: Attendees will understand the Jerman’s implications and how to protect their collections business in the future.
